Tour Itinerary: 14 Days Morocco Grand Tour
Day 1: Arrival At Airport In Marrakech
Upon your arrival at the airport of Marrakech, you will find our driver in your demand, transfer you to your hotel/riad, relax while exploring the main square Jemaa El Fna. Overnight in Marrakech.
Day 2: Marrakech Sightseeing Day Tour
In the morning, visit to the medina at Marrakech with local guide. We’ll start admiring the great wall bordering the medina, the Koutoubia Minaret, this tower is the twin of one in the Giralda in Seville, then we’ll visit the Saadian Tombs, Majorelle Gardens, Bahia Palace…etc reaching finally the square Djemaa el Fna where the background is completely different from the night.
In the evening free time to practice your haggling art in the souk or discover hidden places at the medina. Overnight in Marrakech.
Day 3: Marrakech – Essaouira
After breakfast, we leave Marrakech towards the coastal city of Essaouira. A relaxing walk surrounded by Argan oil cooperatives will take you to this city declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO. The windswept fishing port with wide beaches and the old walled medina with walls built on the cliffs has long been a popular destination with its relaxed feel, take in the small but lively medina, stroll along the walls or beach, or visit the port to see the daily catch. The Gnaouas Music Festival is held in Essaouira in June. Night in Essaouira.
Day 4: Essaouira -Asfi – El Oualidia
Departure from Essaouira towards Oualidia. Stop in Asfi, a city formerly occupied by the Portuguese, famous as the center of Sardine exports. Safi is perhaps best known for its pottery. Arrive and relax in Oualidia, a small seaside town with a protected lagoon, an estuary, and the wild Atlantic Ocean just around the corner. Walking, bird watching (Oualidia is at the center of Morocco’s richest bird habitat in Morocco, particularly in spring and autumn), fishing, swimming, kayaking, kite surfing, and surfing are just some of the activities you can enjoy in Oualidia. Night in Oualidia.
Day 5: Oualidia – Jadida – Casablanca – Rabat
Leave Oualidia towards Rabat and continue your journey up the Atlantic Coast. Pass by El Jadida, a small port city, formerly controlled by the Portuguese, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage site; and stop in Casablanca to visit Mohammed V square and the impressive Hassan II mosque. Explore the imperial city of Rabat, including the Mechouar (the ramparts and walls surrounding the Royal Palace), the majestic Mohammed V Mausoleum, the Hassan Tower, and the Kasbah Oudaya, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and offering fabulous views, as well as being at home to Moroccan artisan galleries. Night in Rabat.
Day 6: Rabat – Asilah – Tangier
Depart from Rabat to Tangier along the stunning coastal road. Visit Asilah, a beautiful coastal town with its whitewashed houses, blue walls and doors, and many murals. Tangier, the gateway to Africa from Europe, has always been an international melting pot. Take a Tour of Tangier and explore the bustling medina, and city surrounds, and enjoy the stunning vista where the Mediterranean and Atlantic Oceans meet. Night in Tangier.
Day 7: Tangier – Chefchouen
Depart Tangier for the enchanting mountain village of Chefchaouen, passing through the green valleys of the Rif Mountains. Chefchaouen (blue pearl) is famous for its vivid blue-rinsed houses and is very popular for both tourists and Moroccans, particularly in the hot summer months. Explore Chechaouen, with its winding lanes and narrow alleys which are home to numerous souks offering cuisine and artisan works, such as woolen items, intricate embroidery, and goats cheese; all native to the North and not found anywhere else in Morocco. Relax in the square, visit a local farm, or hike in nearby parks. Night in Chefchaouen.
Day 8: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes
After your breakfast in the riad, we will start driving towards Volubilis crossing through Ouazan and the other Rif villages. Then, in Volubilis, we will discover the Roman ruins and learn about the archeological site of Moroccan history, after the visit of the ruins, we will move to the city of Meknes, the 17th century Heritage, where we will stop for lunch and walk through the huge historic center; medina, Bab Mansour and enjoy a visit to the sanctuary of Moulay Ismail. After the visit to Meknes, we will drive directly to Fes city where you will spend the night.
Day 9: Fes Sightseeing
Today, you will enjoy all that Fes has to offer by taking a guided city tour of Fes. The oldest imperial cites founded by Idriss II.
Our visit starts by visiting the Royal Palace gate the Jewish quarter, the first Mellah ever built in Morocco during the 16th century, we will ensure that you will visit all sites with cultural and historical interest including the famous Al Qaraouine University, the Tanneries, the Attarine museum, and Moulay Idriss Mausoleum. After lunch, you will visit the tiles cooperative and then experience a wonderful panoramic view over the whole Medina of Fes.
Day 10: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Erfoud – Merzouga
After breakfast leaving Fes and going to Merzouga, passing through Ifrane, the Switzerland of Morocco and the cedar forests of Azrou, where we will stop to hand feed the monkeys, and Medilt for lunch. Continuation to Erfoud along the Ziz valley by a successive series of fortified villages, whose architecture announced that pre-Saharan oases, stopping along the way for panoramic views. Arriving at Merzouga in the late afternoon, you’ll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea before checking into your hotel/riad at the edge of the golden sand dunes.
Day 11: Merzouga – Tour Around (Erg Chebbi Desert) – Overnight & Camel Trek
After breakfast, around 9 AM, we go in 4WD off-road tour around the dunes via the oasis of Merzouga, the nomadic depository, Khamlia village to visit the Gnawa’s village, originally slaves brought from darker-skin Africa, to listen to their spiritual music, then continue to meet desert nomads in their tents, and discover a new sense of life. Not far away there’s the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations, you’ll leave for Rissani. Once called Sijilmassa, this was the meeting point for the salt caravans, coming from Timbuktu in Mali, you’ll walk through the souk, selling spices, vegetables and cloths, after lunch Pizza in Rissani you will travel back to your hotel, relax beside the swimming pool, then ride your camels and trekking to the deep desert. You’ll have time to wander the dunes before sunset. Dinner is served, followed by traditional music and night in a nomad tent.
Day 12: Merzouga (Desert Camp) – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
If we wake up early enough, we can watch the spectacle of sunrise, when the color of the dunes combine with the play of shadows to make an awesome sight. After breakfast & shower, we ride the camels to meet your driver, before leaving for Tinghir and Todra Gorges for lunch. The road passes through Tinejdad and the Todra Valley. This stunning area affords plenty of opportunities to walk, such as along the river through the gardens or up the road on the other side of the gorge. Later, we will continue to the Dades Valley and the Dades Gorges before spending the night in a hotel.
Day 13: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
After breakfast there is some time to relax on and have breakfast at the hotel terrace, with wonderful views across the fertile Dades Valley. Then drive through the villages of this charming area, passing fields cultivated by the Berber womens. Our journey will then continue toward Ouarzazate through the valley of the Roses, famous for its Rose Festival in May, and past the road of thousand kasbahs by Skoura oases. Our route continues to visit the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a World Heritage site, and the backdrop to many Hollywood blockbusters. After the visit, we will drive to Marrakech through the picturesque highest pass in Africa, Tizi-n-Tichka (2260m) with Berber clay villages nested at the roof of the mountains. At the end of the afternoon, we will arrive in Marrakech.
Day 14: Marrakech At Leisure – Transfer To The Airport
Today we will try to benefit our time as much as we can, wander around Marrakech souks to get some souvenirs for friends or the family, then transfer to Marrakech Menara airport for your departure flight. And ends of our 14-day trip itinerary from Marrakech to Sahara desert.
