Itinerary Of 3 Day Desert Trip From Fes To Merzouga
Day 1: Fes – Azrou (Cedar Forest) – Medilt – Erfoud – Merzouga
Our wonderful 3 Days Tour From Fes to Merzouga Desert starts at 08 AM from your hotel or riad in Fez driving across the Middle Atlas and Ifrane a small ski resort town known as the Swiss village. From there we will drive to the Cedar forests to see the Barbarian Apes in their natural habitat and continue to Midelt where we will stop for lunch.
After that, we’ll continue towards Merzouga along the Ziz Valley the largest valley in Morocco, enjoying panoramic views of the contiguous palm oasis, to Erfoud know of fossils.
Once we arrive at the Erg Chebbi desert where your camel caravan will be waiting for us, the luggage will be transported in 4×4 vehicle to the camp. You can enjoy a beautiful camel trek over the dunes and watch the color-changing sunset over the Erg Chebbi dunes.
You are finally getting to the camp where you will enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner set and live traditional Berber music around the campfire under an incredible starry sky.
Day 2: Merzouga Desert Tour – Erg Chebbi Area – Nomad Families
After breakfast, we’ll start our Merzouga 4×4 excursion, by visiting the Oasis of Merzouga which preserves an old irrigation system then we head to the village of Khamlia, a Moroccan village, but inhabited by the dark skin people originally from Mali to enjoy their Gnawa music and the way they live.
After that we will drive to Miffis Mines famous of minerals and fossils before getting behind the dunes in a black desert where we’ll make a stop for tea with a local Bedouins, ending by a visit to Rissani to explore a Market (the biggest souk in the area ). Arriving in the afternoon then free time for the rest of the day.
Spending your night at a local hotel/riad in the Merzouga Desert.
Day 3: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Fes
After a delicious local breakfast, we pack up and start our journey leaving the Sahara Desert taking the way back to Fez through Ziz Valley, Berber villages, the middle Atlas Mountains making stops along the way for panoramic views, and pictures. Arrival at Fes around 5 PM drop you off at your accommodation. End of our 3 days excursions from Fes to Merzouga.
